    About Thiriku Farmers’ Cooperative Society

Located on the foothills of the Aberdare Range in Nyeri, Kenya, Thiriku Farmers’ Cooperative Society unites nearly 2,000 smallholders dedicated to producing exceptional coffee. Formed in 2000, the cooperative is known for its precise washed processing, sustainable farming practices, and generations of expertise.

Farmers grow SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian varieties at 1,900 masl in rich volcanic soils. Ripe cherries are hand-picked, pulped, fermented, and slow-dried on over 130 raised beds using a single, water-efficient wet mill.

The result is coffee that showcases Nyeri’s famous terroir — bright fruit notes, layered sweetness, and a clean, structured cup. Choosing Thiriku means supporting a community committed to quality and responsible cultivation.
